This was basically fine.

We were still taking it pretty cautious. 4.5mph, 3 mile sets, on treadmills. Sometimes we didn't really stop between sets, just slowed to a walk for a little bit; or stopped briefly to reset the treadmill's timeout before starting it immediately back up at a walk. I felt like I could have gone a little bit faster.

I gather that marathon training regimens typically peak at 20 miles, then taper down a little bit in the last few weeks before the actual race. [personal profile] cinnabarine felt that that didn't really prepare her well psychologically for the full marathon, so we're going up to 22 and then tapering down-- we've got more than a month left, anyway. Except that instead of next week's long run we're going to run an actual half-marathon race, then do the 22 the week after.

So I guess it's basically just a bunch more conditioning with short runs, and getting back used to running outside. During the actual marathon I probably won't be watching several back-to-back episodes of "Supernatural," for instance.

I probably will still be consuming enormous quantities of gu. I experimented today with bringing some tums, also, which worked out well.
