Long Run: 18 miles
Mar. 14th, 2018 11:36 pmThere's apparently a lot of running involved in training for a marathon.
I was pretty thrown after last week's unfortunate outcome... and also wasn't able to run on Monday, didn't get in as many short runs over the past week as usual, and got shitty sleep over the weekend. So I was worried about this one. I stuck to 4.5mph on a treadmill and didn't try to do any hills. And did 3-mile sets instead of 4, and had a carb-tastic breakfast instead of eggs.
And it was okay. About 1.25 miles into each set, I'd hit my stride and feel basically fine. Each set was a little harder than the previous one. And by the end my heart rate was as high as at the end of the last long run... but I didn't feel anywhere near as crappy, so I'm guessing heart rate isn't really my issue here.
I'm also worried about next week's long run-- 20 miles-- since I don't have a lot of time between now and then. Eek. Well, we'll see.
